GILBERT & SULLIVAN

SOCIETY

A PROUD HISTORY

From 'The Sorcerer', 2007

The Vale Gilbert and Sullivan Society is in its 40th year, having mounted its first amateur production - ‘Trial by Jury’ - in 1969 in the Victoria Hall, Tring.

Some of the founder members who appeared in that performance are still taking part in our shows, and our last production - Meredith Williams’ ‘The Music Man’ in May 2009 - boasted a cast with ages ranging from nine to 82 years.

We are a friendly and lively local company who provide great musical entertainment.  As a Gilbert and Sullivan Society, we obviously do our fair share of G&S, but we have tackled a wide range of other material and will continue to do so.

Most of our performances in recent years have been at the Court Theatre, Tring, but our next venture will be a Grand Victorian Music Hall, back at the Victoria Hall, Tring, this coming October.  And we are considering taking this sumptuous show to at least one other venue.

We are proud to be affiliated to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA)

If you think you would enjoy acting, singing, dancing, creating sets and scenery, working backstage or front or house, we would be delighted to welcome you aboard.  Just click the ‘Contact Us’ button and drop us an e-mail.
